Prior to my recent move to Chattanooga I have been actively involved in making art, exhibiting, curating and teaching.
My early years in Miami, Florida provided a rich stimulus for the sense of color and texture that have remained a vital part of my art. Colors, forms and structures both human-made and natural have, and continue to be, starting points for my art. The luxury of exploring all regions of our continental U.S. and bits of the wider world has had a major impact on my approach to art and life.
The majority of my undergraduate work was done as a painting major at the University of Illinois and Virginia Intermont College. I received my MFA degree in Visual Art (concentration in Sculpture), from Florida State University.
After graduate school I have taught three-dimensional design, two-dimensional design painting, drawing, and color theory, for more than sixteen years at the college level.
With sculptor Roger Halligan, I opened Two Oaks Studio in North Carolina in 1997. We are in the process of setting up our studio here in Chattanooga.
